I met up with Adam Loveday Regional Manager for Reactiv Media one of the UK’s leading consumer and business data providers for lunch in the Walk Café Bridlesmith Gate Nottingham to find out how he started in business and where he is now and what the future holds for his business.
So Adam, what is your background?
I started my career in retail Sales working for Sainsbury’s as a retail manager. I then moved into the field of Direct Marketing with Alternative Direct Marketing and eventually after a couple of moves to Reactiv Media.
Reactiv Media? What does your business do? – We help businesses find new clients & retain and re-contact existing customers and clients using multichannel marketing methods.
So why would a business engage with you? – Well these days it’s more important than ever to differentiate your self from the competition. We are fortunate in that we create and own our own consumer marketing file so we are able to provide highly cost effective campaigns. In fact we supply our data to many of the large, national, direct marketing suppliers and agencies who then sell it on to businesses for marketing purposes. A good example would be a company that wishes to remove the “duplicates” or “gone away’s” from their database in a cost effective way. We can also profile their existing customer base and add fresh records that match the profile of their most active and profitable customers. This service really does deliver results, reduce wastage and improve efficiencies for most businesses. I am constantly amazed by the number of businesses that can make use of our services.
What are the future plans for the business? –The business was formed in 2007 with 5 staff. We now have 104 people in the team and are growing rapidly. In the current economic climate it’s a major success story and we are proud of our achievement’s to date. We are now actively seeking to grow our client base in the East Midlands which is why we opened our Regional office In the heart of Nottingham at the Exeid site in 20 Fletcher Gate.
What’s your new office like? –Well we chose the top floor of 20 Fletcher Gate provided by exeid.comand we love it. We have plenty of room for our expanding team and we are looked after really well by the branch manager Alexia. It’s great to work with suppliers where nothing is too much trouble. It’s a great environment and although we are now a sizeable company we needed to work in an environment where all our day to day needs were taken care of whilst we focused on growing the business.
What has been your biggest challenge to date? How did you over come it?
I guess the credit crunch had a major impact and many clients switched business off over night. Fortunately we run a tight ship and keep many of our overheads like office space for example on a flexible basis so we were able to weather the storm
In addition many of our new staff were recruited under flexible contracts which enabled us to react quickly as the market picked up. Finally, we are very proactive from a sales point of view and it’s this final point that ensured our continued growth.
What is your greatest success and what do you owe it to? –I have a great team and my right hand man Steve does an excellent job. In addition I have a great relationship with the MD Tony and General Manager Adrian mean that as a team we are able to continually grow the business. In 2009 we won the small business of the year award which gave the whole company a boost and gave us the confidence to open up in the East Midlands. From a business perspective we have a real advantage in that our expertiese allows us to target our prospects very well and win new business as a result.
